At Advance Physiotherapy CBR, we view injury rehabilitation as a partnership between you and your physiotherapist. The initial consultation is a key step in getting you back feeling like yourself - that is why we allocate a full 60 mins to the initial consultation.
During the consultation, your physiotherapist will begin by discussing your symptoms, injury history, and your unique context and goals. They will then proceed to assess the injury with a physical examination. From here , they will collaborate with you to start treating the injury.
Importantly, you should leave your initial consultation with an understanding of your injury, how to reduce your symptoms and a rehabilitation plan tailored towards your goals.

AS described by the Australian Physiotherapy Association: ‘SPEX physiotherapists are healthcare professionals who specialise in the treatment of sports-related injuries. The title of Sports and Exercise Physiotherapist is awarded to physiotherapists who have completed significant additional training beyond their physiotherapy degree.
They have a deep understanding of human anatomy, biomechanics and physiology, and they use this knowledge to accurately diagnose and treat musculoskeletal injuries.’

Physiotherapy involves visual assessment of your movement patterns as well as hands on testing and treatment. For this reason it is best to attend in ‘activewear’ that allows us to see the injured area. For example if you are attending with a shoulder injury a singlet top would be preferred, for a knee injury shorts.
